While visiting Isla Mujeres, Mexico, my daughter and her husband had the amazing experience
of participating in helping newly hatched baby sea turtles make it to the ocean. I had this piece
in my mind and her photos inspired me to get to work on it. Sea turtles are amazing and
beautiful creatures whose life cycles are being disrupted more and more because of human
encroachment on coastal areas. I want to celebrate their beauty as well as bring attention to
how critical it is for us to stop disrupting the life giving cycles of the natural world.
