I used to live on the high plains of Colorado not far from the Pawnee national grasslands. Everyday I saw red tail hawks, hunting snakes and rabbits across the prairie. In this work I captured the majesty of the red tail hawk in flight . The low relief on the bell is reminiscent of the high plains that make up much of the west. The back of the bell has Mimbres tribal designs . The stand is designed to be the shadow cast by the hawk.
