In the Denver Art Museum there is a great artifact in the Native American collection that is an effigy of a horse. These are made to honor a favorite horse and are carried as dance sticks. On this piece I replicated this horse effigy and put three of them together to form the hanger. The bell has horses enjoying the tall grass of the late summer prairie. The back of the bell has an abstract design that comes from the shield said to have been carried by Crazy Horse. I made this bell because I wanted to make something with horses that was not a typical horse sculpture and that honored the proud people who lived and hunted buffalo where I now live .
