This little tabletop bell came to mind after I saw a series of Japanese wood block prints at the Denver Art Museum. I wanted to make a piece that has the same feel of the carved surfaces and textures only in 3D. I chose to continue my theme of the mourning doves. As the piece evolved it took on patterns reminiscent of Vincent Van Gogh’s Starry night. The final piece is a simple little story about how wonderful it is to sit with a loved one in the moonlight.
