I saw this great photograph in National Geographic Magazine of a field mouse balanced on the end of two wheat stalks eating a grain and instantly thought I should translate it into a sculpture. I had been experimenting with casting glass and decided to make a series of small night lights with nocturnal animals . This is the first of the series. It has an LED light that illuminates the cast glass moon and makes an interesting shadow on the mouse.
