While I was still teaching high school art, I was working on originals in my classroom while my students worked on their various projects. This piece came out of wanting to do something that was purely abstract and was a study of textures and patina samples. As it turned out it became my first tabletop bell and one of my most popular editions. The tone of this bell is very resonate and it lead me to making all my bells shaped in a similar fashion. The stands are made from weathered fence posts and pine boards that have been cribbed by horses over the years. The textures, colors and shapes are studies of the effects of weather and water on the earth.
