About two years ago I made a piece titled “conversation” which sold out the edition very quickly. This piece was made in part as a result of many requests from collectors for a new version of conversation. While I try not to do too much anthropomorphizing in my work I did want to convey the idea and mood of contentedness with this piece. The bell has wild sunflowers on it which are the main food source of the mourning dove in the fall. I also hoped to convey the idea that abundance is more about relationships than it is about having lots of stuff. In the last two years I have greatly reduced the amount of stuff I have and consume and have become intensely aware of how important my family and friends are to me. I hope this piece speaks to people to have gratitude and to be content with what and who they have.
