Canoeing the South Platte River is one of my favorite pastimes. On most of the trips I see raccoons doing what they love to do. Eat. They are very fond of crayfish and will come out during the day to fish for them. It is amazing to watch them. This piece is about that scene. I made the raccoons in a more stylized way to highlight the interesting negative space created by the symmetry of the two together. The bell has the largemouth bass and crayfish that are typical of our farm ponds around here. The stand is made of steel and rough hewn cedar wood to give it the feel of something that came off an old farm.
